just got back from israel; a very nice place that left us very impressed with the people. for a place that is under so much tension, the people really seem to understand what's important and how to treat each other. this is a photo of a couch from one of the many hotels we stayed at. our travel agent futzed up the entire trip and when we arrived at the hotel, our reservation was unfortunately unconfirmed. the fact that i pre-paid for the hotel before leaving left me feeling a wee-bit more hostile towards the travel agent. service in india hasn't really been discovered yet, and asking someone a month in advance to investigate an itinerary is effectively useless unless you're willing to sit in front of them for the four hours it takes them to search their system. we eventually went home and found everything on the inter-web and showed her what we wanted and still couldn't get any success. still, my favorite part was her original suggestion of flying through four countries and resorting to driving through egypt to arrive in israel. this despite the fact that there's a little uprising going on along that border that involves people shooting guns at cars. sigh. anyway, our trip was very safe and sound and we never had any uneasy feelings. oh, this is one of the first photos from my new camera. i broke down and bought a 5d. and no, i have no will power nor shame. :)
