Our first day in Akkarai introduced us to a lifeline: Christine at the Ayur Grammam massage spa. After seeing my camera slung over my shoulder she gasped and knew right away who I had to take a picture of. Within minutes we were all on a rickshaw to her place to visit her housekeepers' mother. Christine told her that a photographer had arrived to take pictures of her for her wedding day, and they dressed her up in her finest saree as she beamed with pride. I like this picture because it shows the grace that she exhibited in such a fragile state.
