so my original plan was to pick up a small animal for zen from each country on my trip as a memento for when he grows older. the unfortunate part is that there really seems to be a lack of imagination in the souvenir industry. it's either elephants or camels carved out of wood in every place i go. while i'm sure elephants go over well, i'm also sure that he's not going to differentiate between 12 of them to represent different places. i've also been a bit disappointed on the markup; while i can appreciate the intricate wood-carving skills of the indigenous people of jordan, i'm not inclined to value it at 40 USD. perhaps i'll use my plan.B idea and get a stuffed animal at the airport; it'll likely be more recognizable in the short-term. :)

highlight of the day: knowing that i'm flying out tomorrow and am one stop closer to going back home :)
